Funding Partners

Some donors use the ECF as the primary way they address climate in Europe; for others it complements their own climate funding activity. The advantage of the ECF model is that it pools funding and maximises impact; each funder does not need to reinvent the wheel by building redundant expertise. This model also gives us flexibility to act rapidly as circumstances change.

Core Funders

The European Climate Foundation currently has six core funders that provide unrestricted general operating support. We are grateful for the enormous engagement of these organisations in guiding and shaping the ECF’s mission and strategies:

Additional Supporters

We have received additional support for specific projects from a variety of funders, including (but not limited to) the following:

Baring Foundation

Mercator Foundation

Schroder Foundation

Tellus Mater Foundation

ClimateWorks Network

The ECF is allied with a global network that includes the San Francisco-based ClimateWorks Foundation, which works to stimulate climate-related policy work worldwide. Through this network, the ECF works alongside other regionally based foundations including the Energy Foundation in North America, the Shakti Sustainable Energy Foundation in India, the Energy Foundation China Programme, and the Latin America Regional Climate Initiative, established in 2013.
