20 October 2011 – The Buildings Performance Institute Europe (BPIE), an ECF grantee, has released a new publication on the energy performance of the European building stock.

As there is an absence of comprehensive data on buildings at European level, BPIE placed the European building stock (EU 27 as well as Switzerland and Norway) under the microscope to investigate its main features, including building characteristics, building codes, and other regulatory measures. Based on the data collected, BPIE then determined the energy and CO2 saving potential of European buildings and modeled a variety of scenarios for the systematic renovation of the European building stock up to 2050.

The executive summary and full study are available on the BPIE website here.
