Event 20.06.18| Towards a thriving industry in a net-zero emissions Europe

How to align Europe’s resource and energy-intensive industries with the Paris Agreement?

By the time of COP24 at the end of this year, the European Commission is committed to publish a long-term climate vision and strategy that will ensure the EU’s policies are in line with the goals of the Paris Agreement. A crucial element of this will be how it addresses the challenge of transforming its industries, taking them on a path towards a climate-friendly future as well as seizing the growth and jobs benefits from the new circular, digital and zero emissions markets that are being created.

The European Climate Foundation would like to invite you to the launch of its new project Industrial Transformation 2050 designed to explore and offer ideas on how best to undertake this. The event brings together policy makers, industry representatives, NGOs and experts to discuss the potential and ways to reduce emissions from industry in Europe in order to guarantee its long-term competitiveness in a net zero carbon world. Key issues to be addressed will include the supply-side technological decarbonisation options the resource and energy intensive industries have, the demand-side possibilities that can be envisaged through key value chain innovations, and how to design the policy framework needed to incentive the investments required to enable the transition to a thriving, zero carbon industry.
