Dr. Johannes Meier is CEO of the European Climate Foundation, which is focused on policies that mitigate climate change and drive the transition to a low-carbon economy.
Prior to joining the ECF in February 2011, Johannes was a partner with McKinsey & Company, executive board member of the Bertelsmann Foundation in Germany, and CEO of GE CompuNet Computer AG.
He also founded a software start-up and developed a collaboration platform for the German Public Employment Agency, the Labour Market Monitor, which won the 2011 e-government award for most innovative e-government solution in Germany.
Johannes serves on the supervisory boards of Xing AG and UNICEF Germany. He is a frequent guest lecturer at the Leipzig Graduate School of Management.
He holds a MS in Computer Science from RWTH Aachen University, Germany’s largest technology university, and a PhD in Communication and Information Sciences from the University of Hawaii. Over the years, he has published many articles on management, regulation and policy, demographics, and education.
In his spare time, Johannes is an avid kite surfer and plays saxophone (when his family lets him).
