Joss Garman is the UK Initiative director. Based in London, he is responsible for building the foundation’s strategy and directing grant-making in the UK.
He previously worked for the UK Labour Party as political adviser to the Shadow Secretary of State for Energy & Climate Change. Prior to that he led climate & energy campaigns for Greenpeace UK and was that organisation’s political director, before joining the think tank, the Institute for Public Policy Research (IPPR) as its Associate Director for energy, transport and climate change. He has frequently written on the politics of climate change for newspapers including The Times, The Guardian and The Independent, and advised organisations including UNICEF and the TUC.
Before joining the European Climate Foundation, Joss spent a year working for The Syria Campaign. He holds a degree in Politics and Development Studies from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) at the University of London.
