Laurence Tubiana

Laurence Tubiana is Founder of the Institute for Sustainable Development and International Relations (IDDRI) in Paris, and is Professor and Director at the Sustainable Development Center at Sciences Po, Paris. She is also Professor of International Affairs at Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA).

In May 2014 Ms Tubiana was appointed by the French Minister of Foreign Affairs to be Special Representative for the 2015 Paris Climate Conference and Ambassador for Climate Change. Since September 2012 Ms Tubiana has served as co-chair of the Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) Leadership Council, and co-chaired the SDSN working group on Deep Decarbonization Pathways. She is also President of the Board of Governors of the French Development Agency.

In 2012 Ms Tubiana was appointed by the French government to the National Energy Transition Steering Committee to facilitate discussions on the French national energy system and to provide recommendations on the definition of long-term pathways. From 2009 to 2010 she was charged with launching the new direction of the French Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs’ Global Public Goods Directorate. From 1997 to 2002 she served as Senior Advisor to the Prime Minister of France on environmental issues and conducted a number of international negotiations on the subject.

Previously, Ms Tubiana served as Member of the French Council of Economic Analysis and as Research Director for the French National Institute for Agricultural Research (INRA). She has represented European NGOs at the World Bank and directed the French NGO Solagral.
