Linda McAvan is the Executive Director for European Relations, overseeing the ECF’s country initiatives.
Linda joined the ECF after over 20 years as an elected Member of the European Parliament, the last five as Chair of the European Parliament Development Committee. Key priorities in this role included embedding the UN 2030 Sustainable Development agenda at EU level and increasing education funds for refugee children from Syria and other conflict areas. In previous mandates she led for the Socialist and Democratic Group on Environment, Food Safety and Public Health and chaired the European Parliament Fair Trade cross party group which she founded in 2004 after a field visit to cocoa farmers in Ghana.
She brings with her to ECF extensive practical knowledge of EU policy making, including climate legislation, as well as a deep personal commitment to climate action, global justice and the rights of women and girls.
