About me

Joss Garman is the Executive Director who oversees ECF’s strategies and grant-making focussed on communications and cultural change as well as the UK programme.

Based in Bristol in England, the Sunday Times and The Guardian have named him among Britain’s most influential environmentalists.

He has 15+ years experience working at the intersection of campaigns, politics, policy and media through leadership roles in NGOs, think tanks, politics, and philanthropy.

These roles have included political director of Greenpeace UK, Associate Director for the Institute for Public Policy Research (IPPR), political adviser for the British Labour Party, and UK programme director for ECF.

Joss is an alumni of both the United States International Visitor Leadership Programme (IVLP) and Europe’s Young Leaders Programme (EYL) and a Fellow of the UK’s Royal Society of Arts (FRSA).

He lives with his wife and two children and is happiest out on the hills and beaches of Wales.
