Karine Gavand

Based in Paris, Karine is responsible for building the foundation’s strategy and directing grant-making in France. Her role is also to ensure close coordination between work in France and in Brussels at the EU level.

Prior to joining the ECF in December 2017, Karine Gavand spent 11 years at Greenpeace France, most recently as Food and Agriculture strategy and team leader. Prior to that, she held the roles of Climate and Energy strategy and team leader, public affairs lead, and climate campaigner.

Karine has spent much of her career developing and implementing campaigns for various NGOs, leading the campaign against landmines and sub-munitions in France with Handicap International, and supporting access to HIV treatment in developing countries with Solidarité Sida.
