Adéla Denková

Senior Associate, Central Europe Programme

About me

Adéla Denková joined the ECF in 2022 as a Senior Associate in the Central Europe Programme. In her role, she is responsible for the foundation’s strategy and grant-making in Czechia, Slovakia, Slovenia, and Croatia. She also contributes to identifying the strategic direction for the ECF in the region and communicates with the foundation’s partners in Czechia and Slovakia on a day-to-day basis.

Before joining the ECF, Adéla covered EU affairs as a journalist focusing on the bloc’s climate and energy policies. Among other roles, she worked as editor-in-chief at the Czech branch of the EURACTIV news network. She was also a research fellow at the Association for International Affairs where she focussed on climate and energy policies, especially in the context of the Visegrad Group.

Adéla graduated in Area Studies at Charles University in Prague with a specialisation in political, economic, and social development in Central and Eastern Europe and a focus on energy security and climate policy.

She usually spends her free time with her dog, walking or hiking, and developing her newly discovered passion for winter swimming and 19th-century literature.
