Gio Pesce

Strategic Communications Manager, Italy

About me

Gio Pesce joined the ECF in 2022. Based in Milan, he is the Strategic Communications Manager for Italy. He supports the spreading of stories, data, research, and ideas relevant to the ECF’s vision. He oversees communication activities conducted by the Foundation’s partners in Italy, helping them to overcome resistance to change and unleash the full potential for Italy in the coming low-emission economy.

Gio previously had communications roles in multiple sectors such as urban mobility, travel, streetwear, music, cultural events and urban regeneration. He has led PR initiatives for international brands in Asia, Europe and the Americas. He has had many opportunities to experience the power of cross-pollination, drawing on visual arts, filmmaking, music and illustration in the campaigns he has curated, including for the promotion of low-emission lifestyles and for environmental advocacy projects.

Gio has also worked in market and audience research. He has enjoyed travelling through books as a reader and translator for multiple Italian publishers. He started his professional path in radio journalism, specialising in science and technology coverage.

Gio has an academic background in geo-history and a Master’s Degree in Urban Studies from Goldsmiths’ College in London. He likes discussing geography and history, music and film. His family is from the north-western region of Piedmont, home to quality agriculture and refined cuisine. He loves swimming, especially in open waters, cycling, and hiking. He has travelled around Europe on his bicycle.
