Maryse Tanis

Maryse Tanis is the Human Resources (HR) Director at the ECF. In this role, she leads the HR department and oversees a broad range of HR functions, including recruitment, talent management, social relations and compliance, HR information systems, payroll, and compensation & benefits.

Before joining the ECF, Maryse held several senior HR and programme management positions, with a focus on organisational development, civil society movements, and human rights advocacy. She began her career in education and international development, managing multi-million-euro education programmes across Africa, Central America, and Southeast Asia. She later coordinated the design of monitoring, evaluation, and learning systems on a wide range of rights-based topics for civil society organisations and NGOs in over 20 countries.

Maryse’s early professional experiences span research and event coordination at UNCTAD in Geneva, teaching geosciences in the Netherlands, and even running a bakery. She brings this diverse background and her commitment to people-centred, pragmatic leadership to her work at the ECF.
