Julie Verhaar

Julie is the Executive Director for the Strategic Partnerships team at the ECF and based in The Hague. She is part of the wider ECF leadership team and plays a pivotal role in driving the ECF’s mission by ensuring robust multi-year fundraising outcomes and fostering a diverse range of funding sources. This encompasses several key responsibilities, including spearheading new fundraising efforts and managing relationships with funders to maintain and expand financial support.

Julie joined the ECF in 2025 from Terre des Hommes Netherlands, an organisation focused on stopping child exploitation in Africa and Asia, where she was CEO. Prior to that, she was Acting Secretary General for the International Secretariat of Amnesty International. She has also held senior leadership fundraising and resource mobilisation positions at UNICEF, Greenpeace International, and the Netherlands Red Cross. Julie holds a Master’s degree in International Relations from the University of Utrecht.
