Fr. Augusto Zampini Davies served as the Adjunct Secretary at the Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development and Secretary of the Vatican Covid-19 Commission. He has also served as Coordinator of Development & Faith within the same Dicastery, as well as an expert advisor to the 2019 Synod of the Amazon.
Trained in moral theology with a focus on economics and environmental ethics, Fr. Augusto brings a moral lens to issues of human rights, climate change, and food justice, among others. He is also experienced in practising law on an international scale, having worked as a lawyer at the Central Bank of Argentina and at the international law firm Baker & McKenzie before entering the seminary.
Fr. Augusto is an Honorary Fellow at Durham University (UK), Roehampton University (London, UK) and Stellenbosch University (South Africa), and has been lecturing on theology, Christian ethics and human rights since 2004 at various universities in Argentina and the UK. He has received several awards and scholarships, such as the British Council Chevening Scholarship (2009-10), and has been part of different international leadership programmes, including the US Secretary of State International Visiting Leadership Program (IVLP) in 2019, and the Georgetown University Leadership Programme in 2018.
