Laurence Tubiana awarded the 2020 Academy Prize

05.10.2020

Every year the Royal Academy of Belgium marks the start of the academic year with a ceremony during which the Academy Prize is awarded. In this year’s edition, Professor Laurence Tubiana, CEO of the European Climate Foundation, has been selected as the recipient of the award.

Founded in 1772 by Empress Maria Theresa of Austria, the Academy Award is a prestigious prize that “intends to reward the excellence and international fame of a personality”. Each year, the Administrative Commission of the Academy grants the prize on the proposal of one of the Classes. Laurence Tubiana has been proposed by the Technology and Society class, particularly for her work negotiating COP21.

I am deeply honoured by this award from the Royal Academy of Belgium, which obliges me to continue working tirelessly to combat the major risk of climate change.
