About me

Laura Camarut is a Senior Associate in the Clean Power programme at the European Climate Foundation, where she focuses on leveraging community energy to drive a socially just, people-centred energy transition. A key aspect of her role involves supporting ECF’s network of energy democracy partners, who are active at both the EU and national levels across 14 countries.

With over five years of experience in climate and energy, Laura has worked in a range of roles addressing global climate challenges. Before joining ECF, she was part of the Climate Investments team at the South Pole, a leading climate consultancy, where she focused on carbon removals and urban climate action. Before that, she worked at the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) in Abu Dhabi, where she supported country engagement and partnerships aimed at accelerating renewable energy adoption in Southeast Europe.

Laura holds a master’s degree in environmental policy from Sciences Po Paris, where she specialised in energy and EU policies.

Originally from Romania, Laura is now based in Paris. She is fluent in English, French, and her native Romanian, and has conversational proficiency in Spanish. Outside of work, she enjoys reading, exploring different cultures through travel and cuisine, and spending time in nature or rediscovering her city through long walks.
