Erica Hope

As ECF’s EU Ecosystem Director, Erica works to help ensure the combined forces of ECF’s network of partners, focused on EU politics and policy-making, are as synergistic and impactful as possible.

From 2019 to 2025, Erica led ECF’s governance programme, spearheading thought leadership, evidence building and advocacy that was instrumental to the adoption of the EU’s climate neutrality goal and Climate Law, and national laws, institutions and processes to help realise net zero emissions across Europe. The programme also laid foundations for ECF’s work at the frontiers of democracy and climate action, including looking in detail at citizen engagement processes relevant for climate policy-making and establishing, among other initiatives, the Knowledge Network on Climate Assemblies.

Erica has previously worked with ECF’s energy efficiency and UK teams; with the NGO network Climate Action Network Europe, and as assistant to a Member of the European Parliament. Originally from the UK, she has an MA in Human Sciences from Oxford University, and lives in Brussels with her family.
