About me

Marcela Jaramillo has served as Executive Director of the 2050 Pathways Platform since November 2024, having previously held the role of Programme Manager.

She brings more than 14 years of experience in climate policy, finance, and long-term development planning. Marcela is recognized for her work advancing the role of long-term planning and public finance in delivering net-zero and climate-resilient development, supporting governments to translate ambitious climate goals into actionable policy and investment frameworks.
Under her leadership, the 2050 Pathways Platform works with governments and international partners to strengthen the role of long-term strategies in accelerating the transition to resilient, net-zero economies and ensuring that climate ambition translates into lasting implementation.
Before joining the 2050 Pathways Platform, Marcela worked at the Inter-American Development Bank, where she advised governments on net-zero transition strategies and the alignment of public finances with climate objectives, including through public investment planning, fiscal policy, and budgeting. Prior to that, she worked at E3G across its Climate Finance and Diplomacy programmes, focusing on the role of finance within the UNFCCC process, including the design of the Green Climate Fund and the role of finance within the Paris Agreement, as well as the development of national climate finance strategies. She also has private sector experience in Colombia and the United Kingdom, in renewable energy systems.
Marcela has served as a strategic advisor and member of expert groups across the international climate community. She has co-chaired LEDS LAC, advised the UNFCCC Standing Committee on Finance, and served on the expert advisory group for the Coalition of Finance Ministers for Climate Action’s Framework and Guide for Strengthening the Role of Ministries of Finance in Driving Climate Action. She is also the author of numerous publications on long-term development planning, net-zero transitions, and financing climate action.
