IE University and the European Climate Foundation (ECF) have signed a new partnership to support the development of future leaders in climate policy and governance.

The agreement brings ECF on board as a key partner for IE University’s new Master in Public Policy, launching in September 2026. The collaboration will particularly strengthen the program’s specialization in Environment, Energy and Sustainability, combining academic rigor with real-world expertise.

Through the partnership, students will benefit from a range of joint initiatives, including capstone projects, competitions, case studies, and a summer research program. ECF experts will also contribute to teaching as guest lecturers, speakers and curriculum advisors across both undergraduate and postgraduate programs.

The two institutions will co-organize events aimed at deepening understanding of European climate policy, fostering dialogue, and encouraging youth engagement. The agreement also creates opportunities for internships, supporting pathways into climate policy careers.

“Having the European Climate Foundation as a partner will significantly enrich our students’ learning journey,” said Enrico Letta, Dean of IE School of Politics, Economics and Global Affairs. “This collaboration will provide valuable practical experience and exposure to one of Europe’s leading actors in the green transition.”

A representative from ECF highlighted the importance of people-centered policymaking:
“Climate policy only works if it works for people. We strive for a socially responsible transition built on evidence and broad support, and we’re thrilled to partner with IE University to help prepare future leaders to deliver climate solutions that are both ambitious and fair.”

The new specialization will equip students to address complex challenges in climate governance, exploring the intersection of climate policy, biodiversity, renewable energy, innovation, and economic development.
