Strengthening broad-based democratic support for climate action

Public support for climate action is not self-sustaining. In an increasingly complex information environment — shaped by economic pressures, political polarisation, and the spread of mis- and disinformation, including from vested interests — it requires continuous effort to sustain trust and engagement.

We work with partners to strengthen the social foundations for climate delivery by shifting climate advocacy from a policymaker-first model to one rooted in people’s lived priorities.

We collaborate with partners to help climate action resonate more strongly with people’s everyday priorities in their country or region. That means:

  • Partnering with news, digital, and cultural organisations with the expertise to engage, inform and inspire people from diverse backgrounds and perspectives.
  • Expanding the range of channels where climate debates take place, going beyond traditional media spaces to meet people where they are.
  • Supporting work that surfaces climate links to affordability, health, security and the tangible impact on people’s lives.
  • Collaborating with organisations using innovative participatory methods to empower people to discuss and help shape a net-zero future, such as climate movement organisers, faith-based organisations, and citizens’ assemblies.
